The Dynamic Code Evolution VM promises an open source alternative to JRebel that will allow redefinition of loaded classes at runtime! Exciting stuff if well executed. JRebel has done wonderful work in this area, it will be interesting to see if this team has anything that compares to the comprehensive support of hot swapping that JRebel does.
I have not gotten a chance to try it but I will and I will post an update.
